Why is Steam the worst fucking piece of software on Linux? I'm constantly relaunching it and waiting a lot of time, just because it keeps constantly failing to update itself in the background
I've spent the past hour trying to get Steam to launch. This is just insane
I think it might be broken, and trying to launch it from the terminal with the --reset flag doesn't seem to help. Amazing 👍️
@grunge_fox steam isn’t broken, if you have systemd use journalctl. sometimes it does background downloads and you can see it in journalctl. if you are not on a systemd system you can go to the logs in the .steam directory. idk why but when it does it this way i too wait like 15 minutes bc it seems to download at kilobit speeds
@puppygirlhornypost2 I mean, I'm using systemd, but I'm also using the Flathub version of Steam, so I can just run it from terminal to get the logs. It just checks for updates, tells me there's nothing to update, and then just gets stuck there infinitely
@grunge_fox unfortunately i am scared of flatpak steam so i cant help :(
@grunge_fox @puppygirlhornypost2 have you tried installing steam from your system PM? flatpak steam tends to have Weird Issues (steam itself, especially on linux, is kinda weird, and its weirdness does not play well with flatpak)
